Remove The Clogs

Being a handyman has never been my forte. However, some household tasks require learning how to handle them to avoid unnecessary expense and inconvenience. One of those tasks is unclogging pipes when the water doesn’t flow out of the sinks the way it should.

Over time, soap scum, hair, and residue build up and inhibit water flow. We need some maintenance to resolve the issue. Failure to address the problem will eventually render the sink unusable and can lead to greater damage in the event of an overflow.

Relationships bring beauty and joy to our lives because they are the reason we were created. The priority ought to be a relationship with God, and then those around us. But relationships are hindered by conflict and misunderstandings. Oftentimes, these matters remain unresolved and only worsen, eventually causing irreparable harm.

Our relationship with God is always hindered by sin in our lives. And failure to address it by repenting leads to being disconnected and distant from fellowship with God.

The solution to avoid these undesirable scenarios is to:

 1) Address sin in our lives regularly, promptly, and sincerely. Sin not only hinders our relationship and fellowship with God but also clouds our judgment and our ability to discern. Psalms 66:18 says, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.”

 2) Deal with conflicts with others directly, promptly, and sincerely with a heart of reconciliation. Passages like Ephesians 4:25-32 and Matthew 18:15-17 provide instruction on how to reconcile and avoid worsening the conflict.

 3) Leave unreconcilable issues in God’s hands and strive for peace in your heart. Romans 12:18 says, “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.” You may not be able to resolve every matter. But you can preserve your heart from bitterness and hatred.

Remember, you were created and designed for relationship. And as such, it is a beautiful experience to enjoy connection with God and others with a heart of love, joy, and peace. But it requires regular attention and maintenance. So, don’t forget to be persistent and consistent in removing the clogs!
